The Queenship of Mary

 by Diego Velázquez

Aug. 22 is the celebration of the memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This feast was first established by Pius XII on Oct. 11, 1954 but there has been a long tradition of honoring Mary's special place and role in the plan of God.  I found a nice site on the internet that goes into more detail about this The Queenship of Mary for those who would like to read more.  I wanted focus more on Mary's Queenship as spoken of in the Volumes.  Here Jesus expounds on what is only hinted at in the Church, going into detail on the depth and breadth and reach of the reign of Mary as Queen, "elect among the elect," who from the moment of her conception was given the use of reason and with the power of God's Will reigning in Her, made Her dominator of God Himself.

I follow my abandonment in the Divine Fiat. His sweet chains squeeze me so much, but not in order to take away liberty from me, no, no, but in order to make me more free in the divine fields and in order to hold me defended from everyone and from everything. So that I feel more secure chained by the Divine Will. And while I did my acts in him, I felt the need of my celestial Mama that she might help me and that she might sustain my little acts, so that they might be able to meet the divine satisfaction and smile. And the celestial Comforter, who knows how to deny me nothing when one tries to please him, visiting my poor soul said to me:

I was thinking about the great portent of the immaculate conception of my Queen and Celestial Mama, and in my interior I heard, being said to me: “My daughter, the immaculate conception of my beloved Mama was prodigious and all marvelous; so much so, that Heaven and earth were stupefied and made feast. All Three Divine Persons competed among Themselves: the Father poured out an immense sea of power; I, the Son, poured out an infinite sea of wisdom, and the Holy Spirit, an immense sea of eternal love, which, merging into one, formed one single sea; and in the middle of this sea the conception of this Virgin was formed, elect among the elect. So, the Divinity administered the substance of this conception, and this sea was not only the center of life of this admirable and singular creature, but it remained around Her - not only to keep Her defended from anything that might shadow Her, but to give Her, in each instant, new beauties, new graces, power, wisdom, love, privileges, etc. So, Her little nature was conceived in the center of this sea, and was formed and grew under the influence of these divine waves; so much so, that as soon as this noble and singular creature was formed, the Divinity did not want to wait as usual with the other creatures - It wanted Her embraces, the requital of Her love, Her kisses, and to enjoy Her innocent smiles. Therefore, as soon as Her conception was formed, I gave Her the use of reason, I endowed Her with all sciences, I made known to Her Our joys and Our sorrows with regard to Creation. And even from the maternal womb, She would come to Heaven, at the foot of Our Throne, to give Us Her embraces, the requital of Her love, Her tender kisses; and throwing Herself into Our arms, She would smile at Us with such delight of gratitude and thanksgiving as to snatch Our smiles. Oh! how beautiful it was to see this innocent and privileged creature, enriched with all the divine qualities, coming into Our midst, all love, all trust, without fear. In fact, sin alone is what puts distance between Creator and creature, breaking love, dispersing trust, and striking fear. So, She would come into Our midst as Queen who, with Her love, given by Us, dominated Us, enraptured Us, put Us in feast, and captivated yet more love. And We let Her do it, delighting in the love that She captivated from Us, and constituting Her Queen of Heaven and earth.

Heaven and earth exulted and made feast together with Us, having their Queen after so many centuries. The sun smiled in its light, and held itself fortunate in having to serve its Queen by giving Her light. The heavens, the stars, and the whole universe smiled with joy and made feast, because they were to gladden their Queen, showing Her the harmony of the spheres and of their beauty. The plants smiled, which were to nourish their Queen; and the earth too smiled and felt ennobled in having to provide the dwelling and let itself be trodden by the steps of its Empress. Only hell cried, and felt itself losing strength because of the dominion of this Sovereign Lady.

But do you know what was the first act that this Celestial Creature did when She found Herself before Our throne for the first time? She recognized that all the evil of man had been the split between his will and that of his Creator; She trembled, and with no delay She bound Her will to the foot of my throne, without even wanting to know it. And my Will bound Itself to Her and constituted Itself the center of Her life, so much so, that all currents, all relations, all communications opened between Her and Us, and there was no secret which We did not entrust to Her. This, indeed, was the most beautiful, the greatest, the most heroic act that She did – to lay down Her will at Our feet; an act which made Us, as though enraptured, constitute Her Queen of all. Do you see, then, what it means to bind oneself to my Will and to not know one’s own?

The second act was to offer Herself to any sacrifice for love of Us. The third, to render Us the honor and the glory of the whole Creation, which man had taken away from Us by doing his own will. And even from the maternal womb She cried for love of Us, in seeing Us offended; and She cried with sorrow over guilty man. Oh! how these innocent tears moved Us, and hastened the longed-for Redemption! This Queen dominated Us, bound Us, and snatched infinite graces from Us. She made Us incline so much toward mankind, that We could not resist, nor did We know how to resist Her repeated petitions. But whence came to Her so much power, and such great ascendancy over the very Divinity? Ah! you have understood: it was the power of Our Will acting in Her, which, while dominating Her, rendered Her dominator of God Himself. And then, how could We resist so innocent a creature, possessed by the power and sanctity of Our Will? It would be as though resisting Ourselves. We could see Our divine qualities in Her. Like waves, the reverberations of Our sanctity, the reverberations of the divine manners, of Our love, of Our power, etc., poured out upon Her; as well as Our Will, which was Her center, drawing all the reverberations of Our divine qualities, and making Itself crown and defense of the Divinity dwelling within Her. If this Immaculate Virgin had not had the Divine Will as center of life, all the other prerogatives and privileges with which We so enriched Her would have been, in comparison, an absolute nothing. This is what confirmed and preserved for Her so many privileges; even more, It multiplied new ones at each instant.

Here, then, is the reason why We constituted Her Queen of all; because when We operate, We do it with reason, wisdom and justice: She never gave life to Her human will, but Our Will was always intact in Her. How could We say to another creature: ‘You are Queen of the heavens, of the sun, of the stars, etc.’, if instead of having Our Will as dominion, she were dominated by her human will? All the elements, the heavens, the sun, the earth, would have withdrawn from the regime and dominion of this creature. All would have cried out in their mute language: ‘We do not want her, we are superior to her, because we have never withdrawn from your Eternal Volition - as You created us, so we are’. So would the sun have cried out with its light, the stars with their twinkling, the sea with its waves, and everything else. On the contrary, as soon as they all felt the dominion of this excelling Virgin who, almost as their sister, never wanted to know Her own will, but only that of God, not only did they make feast, but they felt honored to have their Queen, and they ran around Her to form Her cortege and to pay obsequies to Her – the moon, by placing itself as footstool at Her feet; the stars as crown, the sun as diadem, the Angels as servants, and men as though in waiting. Everyone – everyone paid Her honor and rendered their obsequies to Her. There is no honor and glory which cannot be given to Our Will - whether acting within Us, in Its own center, or dwelling in the creature.

But do you know what was the first act that this noble Queen did when, coming out of the maternal womb, She opened Her eyes to the light of this low world? As She was born, the Angels sang lullabies to the Celestial Baby, and She remained enraptured; Her beautiful soul went out of Her little body, accompanied by angelic cohorts, and went around Heaven and earth, gathering all the love that God had spread throughout the whole Creation; and penetrating into the Empyreum, She came to the foot of Our throne, offered Us the requital of the love of all Creation, and pronounced Her first ‘thank You’ in the name of all. Oh! how happy We felt in hearing the ‘thank You’ of this Little Baby Queen. And We confirmed in Her all the graces, all the gifts, such as to make Her surpass all other creatures together. Then, throwing Herself into Our arms, She delighted with Us, swimming in the sea of all contentments, remaining embellished with new beauty, with new light and with new love. She pleaded once again for mankind, praying Us, with tears, to let the Eternal Word descend in order to save Her brothers. But as She was doing this, Our Will let Her know that She should descend to the earth, and immediately She left Our contentments and joys, and departed, in order to do… what? Our Will. What powerful magnet Our Will was, dwelling on earth in this newborn Queen! No longer did the earth appear alien to Us; We no longer felt like striking it, making use of Our justice. We had the power of Our Will which, in this innocent child, restrained Our arms, smiled at Us from the earth, and turned justice into graces and sweet smile; so much so, that unable to resist this sweet enchantment, the Eternal Word hastened His course. Oh! prodigy of my Divine Will - to You everything is due, through You everything is accomplished, and there is no greater prodigy than my Will dwelling in the creature.”
Vol. 15, December 8, 1922

From the moment of her conception Mary put her will aside taking God's Will as ruling over her in all things.  She offered this as a continuous sacrifice throughout her entire life in ever moment.  She then acted as peacemaker offering back to God everything that everyone owed Him, continuously.  Mary's Queenship is expressed in her constancy in making peace between man and God and defending both.  In doing so she surpasses the entirety of all of Creation and places her first before God among all creatures.

“But the one who surpasses all is my Celestial Mama. She is the new heaven, the most refulgent sun, the brightest moon, the most flowery earth; She encloses everything – everything within Herself. If each created thing encloses the fullness of its own good received by God, my Mama encloses all goods together, because, since She is endowed with reason and my Will lived wholly in Her, the fullness of grace, of light, of sanctity, grew in every instant. Every act She did was suns and stars that my Will formed in Her. So, She surpassed the whole Creation; and my Will, whole and permanent in Her, did the greatest thing and impetrated the longed for Redeemer. This is why my Mama is Queen in the midst of Creation - because She surpassed everything, and my Will found in Her the nourishment of Her reason, which made It live as whole and permanent in Her. There was highest accord, they held each other’s hand, there was not one fiber of Her Heart, or word or thought, over which my Will did not possess Its Life. And what can a Divine Will not do? It can do everything. There is no power It lacks, or thing It cannot do. Therefore it can be said that my Mama did everything; and everything that all others together could not do, nor will be able to do, She did by Herself.

“Therefore, do not be surprised if I point out to you the Creation and the Sovereign Queen, because I must point out to you the most perfect examples in which my Will has perennial life, and has never found an obstacle to Its field of divine action, in order to be able to operate things worthy of Itself. My daughter, if you want my Supreme Fiat to reign as It does in Heaven – which is the greatest thing that is left for Us to do for the human generations – let my Will have the place of sovereign in you, and live as whole and permanent. Do not be concerned about anything else, be it your incapacity, or the circumstances, or the new things which may arise around you, because as my Will reigns in you, they will serve as raw material and nourishment so that my Fiat may have Its fulfillment.”
Vol. 19, April 28, 1926

“My daughter, one who lives in my Will has primacy over everything and over all the acts of creatures; she has her act as first in love before her Creator. So, if the other creatures love, the soul who lives in my Will is first in loving; the others come, some second, some third, some fourth, according to the intensity of their love. If the other creatures adore Me, glorify Me, pray Me, the soul who lives in my Will is first in adoring Me, in glorifying Me, in praying Me. And this is natural, because my Will is life and prime act of all creatures, therefore one who lives in It finds herself in Its prime act and she is first before God, above all creatures, in doing all of their acts and in doing all the acts which they do not do. So, the Sovereign Queen of Heaven, who never gave life to Her own will, but had Her life fully in my Will, holds as though the right of primacy. Therefore, She is first in loving Us, in glorifying Us, in praying Us. If We see that the other creatures love Us, it is behind the love of the Celestial Queen; if they glorify Us and pray Us, it is behind the glory and the prayers of She who holds primacy and therefore empire over everything. How beautiful it is to see that, as creatures love Us, She never gives up Her first place in love. Even more, She places Herself as prime act, She makes Her sea of love flow around the Majesty, in such a way that the other creatures remain behind the sea of love of the Celestial Mama, with their little drops of love; and so with all the other acts. Ah! my daughter, to live in my Will is one word, but it is a word that weighs as much as eternity – it is a word that embraces everything and everyone.”

Vol. 20, November 21, 1926

With her continuous acts, done in the Divine Will, Jesus would repay her for each with a degree of graces, a divine life.  God will never be out done.  Mary is truly "full of grace."

“My daughter, in each act that my Celestial Mama did for Me – and they were continuous – I repaid Her with a degree of graces, because I do not let Myself be beaten nor surpassed by the acts of creatures – I am insuperable. Therefore, if my dear Mama gave Me love, acts, steps, words - I, in each degree of grace, gave Her a divine life, because grace is nothing other than the bilocated life of God which gives itself to creatures. What a great difference between an act which a creature can give and a divine life which God gives at each of their acts. So, the Queen of Heaven was immensely rich, with so many divine lives which She received at each instant; and She used them to form the cortege, to honor, to love, with divine lives, Her Son, Her Jesus, Her All.

Vol. 22, September 14, 1927

Because she conquered God with all the constancy of her acts of love done in the Divine Will she was able to impetrate the longed for Redeemer over and beyond all before her who only prayed with empty words for the same.  One who possesses a good, possesses the virtue of asking for it and of giving it.

The same happened in Redemption. Sin was flooding the earth; the very people called the people of God, was the smallest people, and if it seemed that it occupied itself with it, it was in a superficial way. In fact, they did not possess within themselves the life of that Redeemer whom they were asking for. It can be said that they occupied themselves just like, today, the Church, consecrated people and religious, occupy themselves by reciting the Our Father. But the fullness of the Life of my Will which they ask for in the Our Father is not in them, therefore their petition ends up in words, but not in facts. But when the Queen of Heaven came, who possessed the fullness of the Divine Life, everything She asked for for the good of the peoples moved God, conquered Him, made Him decide; and in spite of the evils which were present, the Eternal Word came upon earth by means of She who already possessed Him, as He formed the whole of Her life. With the fullness of this Divine Life, She was able to move God, and so came the good of Redemption. That which all others together were not able to obtain, She obtained – the Sovereign Queen, who had conquered, first within herself, Her Creator and the fullness of all the goods which She was asking for for others; and, being the conqueror, She had the virtue of being able to impetrate and give the good which She possessed.

There is great difference, my daughter, between one who asks and possesses, and one who asks and does not possess the Divine Life. The first one asks by right; the second does it as alms, and one who asks as alms is given money, lira, at the most, but not entire kingdoms. On the other hand, one who asks by right, possesses, she is already the owner, the queen, and one who is queen can be given the kingdom; and because she is queen, she has her divine empire before God to be able to impetrate the kingdom for creatures. So it will happen for the Kingdom of my Will. Therefore, I so much recommend to you: be attentive, let It form the fullness of Its Life in you; in this way, you will be able to move God, and when God moves, no one can resist Him.”

Vol. 23, November 27, 1927

Mary is Queen and Mother and takes on the role of peacemaker between God and man.  She is not distant but involves herself with every act of man, surrounding, helping, making up for, embellishing, and strengthening, as cementing every act of man with an act of her own in order to put everyone into safety and say that the acts of her children are one with hers.

“My daughter, our celestial Mama holds the primacy over all the good acts of creatures. She as Queen holds the mandate and the right to make the retreat of all the acts of them in her acts. So much is her love as Queen and Mother, that as the creature disposes herself to form her act of love, thus from the heights of her throne, she makes a ray of her love descend, invests and surrounds the act of love of them in order to put there hers as first love, and as it is formed, thus it re-arises in her same ray of love, in the source of her love, and she says to her Creator: ‘Adorable majesty, in my love that always rises for you, there is the love of my children fused in mine, that I with right of Queen have withdrawn in my sea of love, so that [you] might be able to find in mine, the love of all creatures.’
“If they adore, if they pray, if they repair, if they suffer, the ray of adoration descends From the heights of her throne, the ray of her prayer, the ray of her reparation, she emits the vivifying ray from within the sea of her sorrows, and she invests and surrounds the adoration, the prayer, the reparation, the sufferings of the creature; and [when] they have done and formed the act, the same ray of light re-arises even to her throne and they fuse themselves in the sources of the seas of adoration, of prayer, of reparation, of sorrows of the celestial Mama, and she repeats: ‘Most Holy Majesty, my adoration extends itself in all the adorations of creatures, my prayer prays in the prayer of them, it repairs with their reparations, and as Mother my sorrows invest and surround their sufferings. I wouldn’t feel (as) Queen if I didn’t race and put my first act over all of their acts, nor would I taste the sweetness of Mother if I didn’t race in order to surround, to help, to make up for, to embellish, to strengthen all the acts of the creature, and thus be able to say: “the acts of my children are one with mine, I hold them in my power I press God in order to defend them, to help them, and as sure pledge that they will reach me in heaven.”’
“Hence, my daughter, you are not ever alone in your acts, you have the Celestial Mama together with you, who not only surrounds you, but with her light of her virtues she feeds your act in order give them life. Because you should know that the Sovereign Queen, even from her Immaculate Conception, was the first and only creature that formed the ring of conjunction between the Creator and the creature, broken by Adam. She accepted the divine mandate to bind God and men, and she bound them with her first acts of fidelity, of sacrifice, of heroism, to make her will die in every act of hers, not once, but always, in order to (make) live again that of Gods. From this sprang forth a source of divine love that cemented God and man and all their acts, so that her acts, her maternal love, her dominion as Queen, is cement that races, that cements the acts of creatures in order to make them inseparable from hers, except some ungrateful one who refuses to receive the cement of the love of her Mama. Hence you should be convinced that around your patience there is the patience of the Queen Mama, that surrounds, sustains and feeds yours; around your sufferings, her sorrows surround you, that sustain and feed like balsamic oil the hardness of your sufferings; in short in everything. She is the busybody Queen that doesn’t know how to remain in idleness upon her throne of glory, but descends, races as Mother in the acts, [in] the needs of her children. Therefore thank her for her so many maternal solicitudes and thank God that he has given to all the generations a Mother so holy, amiable, that loves so much that she arrives to do as re-tracer of all the their acts, in order to cover them with hers, and in order to make up for that which lacks in them of beauty and of good.”

Vol. 30, Dec. 8, 1931

So Mary is truly the Queen Mama, who administers not only to each child of hers but even to each act of each child. She stands ready to aid each creature in each of their acts, some as support and strength, some as reparation, some as embellisher, each to their individual need. This role was given to her from the moment of her conception and in every and each of her acts she set them as a dowry to be given to each of us so that we can say we triumph with her in each act and share in each and all.

“Listen to me…[Hence I follow the same argument of that which is written before.] My blessed daughter, the prodigies are unheard of, the surprises that I will narrate to you they will astound everyone, I feel the need of love to make known what thing we have done with this Celestial Mother and the great good that all the generations have received. Whence you should know that in the act of conceiving this Holy Virgin, our Divine Will that possesses everything, and with his immensity embraces everything, and possesses the omniclairvoyance of all the possible and imaginable beings, and with his virtue all proper that when he works he always does universal works, hence as she was conceived, with his creative virtue he called all creatures to be conceived in the heart of this Virgin; but it was not enough to our love, giving in the most incredible excesses he made this Virgin conceived in every creature, so that each one might have a Mother all her own, they might feel her Maternity in the depth of their souls, her love, that more than children, that while she holds them conceived in herself, bilocating herself to conceive (herself) in every single creature, in order to put herself at (the) disposition of them, in order to raise them, guide them, free them from perils and with her Maternal power feeds them the milk of her love and the food with which She herself was fed, that is the Divine Fiat. Our Will having free life in Her, his total dominion, with his power, while he called everyone in this Celestial Creature, in order to have the joy of seeing everyone contained in Her, in order to hear her say; they are already all in me(,) mine and your children, therefore I love you for everyone; then she bilocated in everyone and in each one, in order to feel in every single soul, the love of this Daughter of ours, all beautiful and all love, we can say, there is no creature that She did not take the pledge of loving us for. Our Fiat elevated her so much as to give her everything, and even from the first instant of her life we constituted her Queen of our Fiat, Queen of our love, and when she loved us her Maternity was felt in her love, and it harmonized the love of all creatures, and oh how beautiful it was, that formed of everything one love alone, how it wounded us, felicitated us, even to feel ourselves languish, her love disarmed us, made us see all things, Sky, Sun, earth, seas and creatures covered and hidden in her love.

“Oh! how beautiful it was to see her, to feel her that she did as Mother in every single creature and forming in them her sea of love, she sent her notes, her arrows, her loving darts to her Creator. And doing as true Mother she carried them to us even before our Throne in the sea of her love, in order to make us look at them, in order to make us propitious, and with the force of our Divine Volition she imposed herself over us, put them in (our) arm (s), made us caress, kiss them, and made us give surprising graces, how much sanctity was formed and impetrated by this Celestial Mother, and in order to be sure her love remained to watch.
“Beyond this, you should know that even from the first instant of the life of this Celestial creature, our love was so much that we endowed her with all of our Divine qualities. So that she held for dowry our Power, Wisdom, love, goodness, light, beauty and all the rest of our Divine qualities. Already to all creatures in putting them forth to the light of day we give the dowry, no one is born if not endowed by her Creator, but since they are drawn away from our Will, one can say that they don’t even know it. Instead this Holy Virgin was not drawn away ever, she made perennial life in the interminable seas of our Fiat, hence she grew together with our Attributes and as she formed her acts in our Divine qualities, thus she formed seas of Power, of wisdom, of light and other. We can say that living with our science we gave her continuous lessons, who her Creator was, she grew in our knowledges, and she knew so much of the Supreme Being, that not one Angel and Saint could arrive to her, rather they are all ignorant before Her, because not one grew and made life together with us. She entered in our divine secrets, in the most intimate hideaways of our Divine Being without beginning or end, in our joys and imperishable beatitudes, and with our Power that she held in her power she dominated and mastered us, and we made/let her do it, indeed we enjoyed ourselves with her mastery and in order to make her more happy, we gave her our chaste embraces, our loving smiles, our condescensions, saying to her: do that which you want. Our Volition has so much love toward creatures, and his great desire of having her live in Him, that if he obtains this he casts her in an abyss of graces, of love, even to drown her (so) that, the human littleness is constrained to say: enough, I am already drowned, I feel devoured by your love itself, I am not able to endure more.
“Now you should know that, our love is not content, it never says enough, how much more it gives more it wants to give and when we give it is our feast, we prepare the table to one who loves us and we press her to remain with us, in order to have life together. Now my daughter, listen to another prodigy of our Fiat in this Holy Creature, and how She loved us and made her Maternity extend to all creatures. In every act that she did, if she loved, prayed, adored, if she suffered, everything even the breath, the heartbeat, the step, being our Fiat, they were triumphs and victories that our Supreme Being made in the acts of the Virgin, the Celestial Lady triumphed and conquered in God, in every instant of her admirable and prodigious life they were triumphs and victories between God and the Virgin; but this is nothing, doing as True Mother she called all her children, and covered and hid all their acts in hers and covered them with her triumphs and with her victories, giving all her acts as dowry, with all her victories and her triumphs. And then with a tenderness and love as to break hearts and feel ourselves conquered she said to us: Adorable majesty, look at them, they are all my children, my victories and triumphs are of my children, they are my conquests that I give to them, and if the Mama has conquered and triumphed, the children have conquered and triumphed. And so many triumphs and victories she did in God, for how many acts all creatures would have done, so that everyone might be able to say: I am endowed by the acts of my Queen Mama, and for seal she has invested them with me with her triumphs and victories that she made with her Creator.
“So that who wants to make herself holy finds the dowry of her Celestial Mother and her triumphs and victories in order to arrive to the greatest sanctity, the weak one finds the strength of the sanctity of her Mama and her triumphs in order to be strong, the afflicted one, the suffering one finds the dowry of the sufferings of her Celestial Mother in order to obtain the triumph, the victory of resignation, the sinner finds the victory and the triumph of pardon, in short everyone finds in this Sovereign Queen the dowry, the support, the help to the state in which they find themselves. And oh, how beautiful it is, it is the most moving scene, enrapturing and enchanting, to see this Celestial Mother in every single creature, that she does as Mama, we feel her that she loves and prays in her children. This is the greatest prodigy between Heaven and earth, good more great we could not give to creatures.
“Now my daughter, I must tell you a sorrow of the Celestial Mother, to so much (of) her love, the ingratitude of creatures, this dowry, that with so many sacrifices even to the heroism of the sacrifice of her Son God with so many atrocious sufferings, some don’t know it, some hardly take a slight interest, and they have life poor of sanctity, and oh how she suffers in seeing her children poor; to possess immense riches of love, of grace, of sanctity, because they are not material riches, but the riches of this Celestial Mother are riches that she has put forth her life in order to acquire them, and not seeing them possessed by her children and she holds them without the purpose (of) why she has acquired them it is a continuous sorrow, and therefore she wants to make this great good known to everyone, because if one doesn’t know one can not possess. And how she acquired these dowries in virtue of the Divine Fiat that reigned in Her, that loved her so much that he let her do that which she wanted and anywhere she might want to arrive to (the) good of creatures. Therefore it will be my ruling Divine Volition that will put to (the light of) day these celestial dowries and will make them take possession. Therefore pray that a good so great be known and wanted by creatures.”

Vol. 34, Dec. 20, 1936

Mary is Queen and Mother but her triumph is not yet complete even though her life may be complete in all of her acts while on the earth. This means that her acts have not yet reached the fullness to which they are destined to reach. It is only through the establishment of the Kingdom of the Divine Will in the hearts of creatures that Mary will reach the fullness of her reign as Mother and Queen.

“My daughter, how beautiful is my Mama, her Majesty is enchanting, before her Sanctity the Heavens abased themselves, her riches are interminable and incalculable, no one can say themselves (to be) similar to Her, therefore She is Lady, Mother and Queen; but do you know what are her riches? Souls. Every soul is worth more than an entire world, no one enters in Heaven if not through her means and in virtue of her Maternity and of her sorrows, so that every soul is a property of hers, therefore one can give (Her) with fact the name of true Lady. You see therefore how rich she is, her riches are special, they are full of speaking lives, lovers that extol the Celestial Lady. As Mother she holds her innumerable children, as Queen she will hold her people of the Kingdom of the Divine Will. These children and this people will form her most radiant crown, some as sun and some as stars they will crown her august Head with such beauty as to enrapture all Heaven. So that the children of the Kingdom of my Divine Will will be those that will render Her the honors of Queen and transforming themselves into suns they will form for Her the most beautiful crown. Therefore yearn so much that this Kingdom comes, because to her radiant crown with which the Most Holy Trinity crowned Her, she awaits the crown of her people, that extolling her as Queen, they offer Her their lives transformed into Suns as testament of love and of glory. Oh! If one might understand what it means to live in my Volition, how many Divine secrets would be revealed, how many discoveries they would make of their Creator. Therefore be content to die rather than to not live of my Will.”
Vol. 33, July 8, 1935

Mary's crowning as Queen is not yet complete. Her complete glory is found in the glory of her children. Only when her children are fully beautiful and holy with the same sanctity and beauty that she possesses will she then obtain her complete Queenship and Motherhood.

Then, I continued my abandonment in the Eternal Fiat in order to receive Its reflections, and my sweet Jesus added:

“My daughter, my Celestial Mama was the first who occupied the first place in Heaven as Daughter of the Supreme Volition; and because She was the first, She has around Herself the place for all the children of the Supreme Fiat. So, around the Queen of Heaven many empty places can be seen, which can be occupied by no one else but Her copies. And since She was the first from the generation of my Will, the Kingdom of the Fiat will also be called ‘Kingdom of the Virgin’. Oh! how the Sovereignty over all Creation will be recognized in these children of Ours. In fact, by virtue of my Will, these will enjoy indissoluble bonds with all created things; they will be in continuous relations of communication with them. They will be the true children, in whom the Eternal Creator will feel honored, glorified to have them as children, because He will recognize in them His own Divine Will operating, which has reproduced His true images.”
Vol. 20, Nov. 10, 1926

Mary states that the Kingdome of the Divine Will has been entrusted to her by God so that it is truly her kingdom.  Her anxieties, prayers, efforts and love are continuous assaults against the Holy Trinity in order to obtain this Kingdom.   Her glory as Queen and Mother will not be complete until her children live in and can love with that same Divine Will.  When she finds one disposed she enters their hearts, forming her life there in order to form everything that is needed for the decorum of that Divine Fiat putting forth all her love, virtues and sorrows to create a secure wall of defense around that creature.

“Daughter of my Maternal Heart, the kingdom of the Divine Will will be my kingdom, the Sacrosanct Trinity has entrusted it to me, as he entrusted the Eternal Word to me when he descended from Heaven in earth, thus he entrusted to me his and my kingdom, therefore my sighs are ardent, my prayers incessant, I don’t do other than assault the Most Holy Trinity with my love, with the rights of Queen and of Mother that he gave me, so that that which he entrusted to me comes to the light, forms his life, so that my kingdom triumphs upon the face of the earth; you must know that my desire is so much that it burns me, that I feel as if I might not have glory, while I have so much of it that Heavens and earth are filled, if I don’t see it fully formed, the kingdom of the Divine Will in the midst of my children, because, each one of these children that will live in it, will give me so much glory, as to double my glory that I possess, therefore seeing myself deprived, I feel as if I might not have (the) glory of Queen and (the) love of Mother from my children, therefore in my Heart I always call and go repeating, ‘my children, my children, come to your Mama, love me as Mother as I love you as children, if you won’t live with that same Will that I lived, you can not give me the love of true children, nor can it be known where my love arrives for you.’
“You must know that so much is my love and my ardent anxieties that I want that this kingdom exists upon the earth, that I descend from Heaven, turn through souls in order to see who remains more disposed to live of Divine Volition, I do for them (as a) spy, and when I see them disposed I enter in their hearts and I form my life in them, as preparation, honor and decorum of that Fiat that will take possession and will form his life in them. Therefore I will be inseparable from them, I will put my Life, my love, my virtues, my sorrows, at their disposition, as (a) wall of insurmountable fortitude, so that they can find in their Mother that which is needed in order to live in this kingdom so holy.
“And then my feast will be complete, my love will rest in my children, my Maternity will find one who loves me as child, and I will give surprising graces and I will put all Heaven and earth in feast, I will do as (a) Queen lavishing unheard of graces. Therefore my daughter, you will remain united with your Mama, so that you pray and yearn with me the kingdom of the Divine Will.”

Vol. 34, Feb. 10, 1937

Although Mary's seeming focus was on obtaining the Redemption her main focus was always on the triumph of the Kingdom of the Divine Will.  She, as sole Queen who contains the fullness of living completely in the Kingdom, longs to be able to have children equal to her which can only happen in the Reign of the Kingdom of the Divine Will.

“My daughter, to all appearances it may seem that the whole interest of our Queen Mama was for the Kingdom of Redemption; but it is not true – that was the external part, but the interior was all for the Kingdom of my Divine Will.  In fact, She, who knew all the value of It and the complete glory for Her Creator and the maximum and complete good for creatures, could not do without asking for the Kingdom of the eternal Fiat.  On the contrary, by obtaining the Redemption, She laid the foundations of the Kingdom of my Will.  It can be said that She prepared the materials for It.  It is necessary to do minor things in order to obtain greater ones, and this is why I had to give the first field to Redemption, almost to build the factory of the Kingdom of the Divine Fiat.  If a kingdom is not formed, how can a king say that he has his kingdom and that he dominates?  More so, since the Sovereign Queen of Heaven is the only and sole one in the glory in the Celestial Fatherland, because, as the only and sole one, She formed Her whole life in my Will, and a mother loves and wants for her children to possess her same glory.  And She, in Heaven, cannot communicate all Her glory and greatness and sovereignty which She possesses, because she does not find anyone who has lived Her same continuous life in the Divine Will.  Therefore, She longs for the children of Its Kingdom, so as to have all Her glory be reflected in them, and be able to say: ‘I have my children who equal Me in my glory.  Now I am happier, because my glory is the same glory as my children’s.’  The happiness of a mother is more that of her children than her own; more so for the Celestial Mother who, in my Will, more than mother, conceived all the redeemed ones and formed the very life of the children of my Divine Will.”

Take up your Cross...

23
Then he said to them all, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.
24 For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it.

Luke 9:23-24

I was reading the way of the cross by Catalina Rivas and I came upon the 12th station where this passage struck me.

The Twelfth Station - Jesus Dies on the Cross

...My children, there are no glorious crosses on earth. They are wrapped in mystery, darkness and exasperation. They are wrapped in mystery because you do not understand them; wrapped in darkness, because they confuse the mind; and wrapped in exasperation for they strike exactly in places where you do not want them to strike.

How often we romanticize the cross on earth.  We think of severe illnesses, or a woman enduring a difficult marriage, or severe pain, or supernatural crosses like someone suffering the stigmata.  These certainly are crosses and they are obvious when they hit making us turn immediately to God for help, but the vast truth for most of us is something else.  Those daily crosses that we're asked to bear are the annoying co-worker that gets under your skin, the neighbor that always seems to be yelling or swearing, the person that keeps leaving the toilet seat up or the cabinet open, the person that cuts you off or the one who is driving too slow in single lane traffic, these are the crosses we are often asked to carry.  It's all those little encounters that make you want to swear or lose patience with someone and in turn lose your own peace, those people that drive you crazy and you're never quite sure why they bother you so much, guess what?  They're crosses sent by God.

Now there are a couple of former posts, one is a talk given by Fr. Gary, The Cross of Wood and the Cross of Light, and another The Crucifixion of Divine Will, both of which deal with the more spiritual aspects of the cross.  But I thought I'd take another look through the Volumes and look at what Jesus has to say about all those daily crosses we receive on this earth.  This is what I've found.

Jesus himself, states that the cross disposes the soul to look to Heaven by causing the soul boredom and bother.  It is meant to destroy the three evil kingdoms of the World, the Devil and the Flesh which is rooted in man in order to restore the three good and holy kingdoms the Spiritual, the Divine and the Eternal Kingdom created by God for man.

“The cross disposes the soul to patience.  The cross opens Heaven, and unites Heaven and earth together – that is, God and the soul.  The virtue of the cross is powerful, and when it enters into a soul, it has the virtue of removing the rust of all earthly things.  Not only this, but it causes her boredom, bother and contempt for the things of the earth, giving her, instead, the flavor and the enjoyment of celestial things.  However, few are those who recognize the virtue of the cross; therefore they despise it.”
Vol. 2, May 16, 1899

“My daughter, do not want to become tired in suffering, but rather, act as if at each hour you were just beginning to suffer.  In fact, if the soul lets herself be dominated by the cross, the cross destroys three evil kingdoms in her, which are the world, the devil and the flesh, and it constitutes in her three more good Kingdoms:  the Spiritual, the Divine and the Eternal Kingdom.”
Vol. 6, June 3, 1904

He also states that crosses make the soul transparent in such a way that even little stains become strikingly apparent.

“The cross communicates such splendor to the soul as to render her transparent.  Just as one can give all the colors he wants to an object which is transparent, in the same way, with its light the cross provides all features and the most beautiful shapes that can possibly be imagined, not only by others, but by the very soul who experiences them.  Furthermore, on a transparent object one can immediately detect dust, little stains, and even a shadow.  Such is the cross:  since it renders the soul transparent, it immediately reveals to the soul the little defects, and the slightest imperfections, so much so, that there is no hand of master more capable than the cross in keeping the soul prepared, to make of her a residence worthy of the God of Heaven.”
Vol. 2, July 22, 1899

Crosses are means to detach us from earthly people and things, crosses of disillusion as Jesus calls them.  We are not meant to be co-dependent on other people, to love others above God.  God alone deserves all our love and we should love others for the love of God.  Or if we raise self esteem, or riches or any other thing or person above the love of God Jesus will send us these crosses so that we might once again look to Heaven first and lose our taste for the earth.  And if we submit to these crosses and accept the lessons they gives us we avoid a judgment at the hour of death.  Whether we accept these crosses or not will be our glory or our shame at our judgment.  Those little annoying moments that seem to needle us add up.

“My daughter, these are the crosses of the loss of illusion, which I keep always ready to disillusion the creatures.”  As He was saying this, we found ourselves in the midst of people, and as soon as blessed Jesus would see that someone would become attached to creatures, He would take the cross of persecution from that bundle and would give it to him; and that person, seeing himself persecuted, unpopular, would be disillusioned and would comprehend that those were the creatures, and that God alone deserves to be loved.  If someone would become attached to riches, He would take from that bundle the cross of poverty and would give it to him; and that person, seeing that riches had vanished away from him and he was now poor, would comprehend that everything down here is smoke, and that true riches are eternal, and so he would attach his heart to everything that is eternal.  If someone else would become bound to his self-esteem, to knowledge, blessed Jesus, with all sweetness, would take the cross of slanders and of confusions and would give it to him; and that person, confused and slandered, would remove as though a mask from himself and comprehend his own nothingness, his being, and would order his whole interior in the order of God, and no longer of himself.  And so on with all the other crosses.
After this, my adorable Jesus told me:  “Have you seen the reason why I have this bundle of crosses in my arms?  It is my love for creatures that forces Me to keep it, remaining in continuous attitude for them.  In fact, the cross is the primary disillusion and the first thing that judges the works of creatures, in such a way that if the creature surrenders, the cross will make him avoid the judgment of God, as I am satisfied when one submits to the judgment of the cross during his life.  If then he does not surrender, he will find himself in the sphere of the second judgment at his death, and will be judged with much more severe rigor by God; more so, since he has shunned the judgment of the cross, which is a judgment all of love.”
Vol. 4, March 5, 1903

“My daughter, sufferings, crosses, are like many citations which I send to souls.  If the soul accepts these citations - whether they are citations that notify the soul to pay some debt, or it is a notification to obtain some gain for eternal life - if the soul responds to Me by resigning herself to my Will, by thanking Me, by adoring my holy dispositions, we are immediately in accord, and the soul will avoid many inconveniences that are possible, like being cited again, having advocates involved, going through the suit, and receiving the condemnation of the judge.  Responding to the citation with resignation and with thanksgiving alone will make up for all this, because the cross will be citation, advocate and judge for her, with nothing else needed for her to take possession of the eternal Kingdom.  If then she does not accept these citations - think about it, yourself, into how many abysses of disgraces and troubles she throws herself, and what the rigor of the judge will be in condemning her for having shunned the cross as her judge - so much milder, more compassionate, more prone to enriching her rather than judging her, more intent on embellishing her rather than condemning her.”
Vol. 6, March 5, 1904

“My beloved, the cross allows one to distinguish the reprobates from the predestined.  Just as on the Day of Judgment, the good will rejoice upon seeing the cross, so even now it can be seen whether one will be saved or lost.  If, as the cross presents itself to the soul, she embraces it, carries it with resignation and patience, kissing and thanking that hand which is sending it – here is the sign that she is saved.  If, on the contrary, as the cross is presented to her, she gets irritated, despises it, and even reaches the point of offending Me – you can say that that’s a sign that the soul is heading on the way to hell.  So will the reprobates do on the Day of Judgment:  upon seeing the cross, they will grieve and curse.  The cross tells everything; the cross is a book that, without deception and in clear notes, tells you and allows you to distinguish the saint from the sinner, the perfect from the imperfect, the fervent from the lukewarm.  The cross communicates such light to the soul that, even now, it allows one to distinguish not only the good from the evil, but also those who are to be more or less glorious in Heaven – those who are to occupy a higher or a lower place.  All other virtues remain humble and reverent before the virtue of the cross, and grafting themselves to it, they receive greater glory and splendor.”
Vol. 1, The judgment of the cross.

God often uses the cross like a bridle on a horse to tame and guide man.  Otherwise he states man would throw himself off a cliff and there would be an untold more number of evils in the world.

“My daughter, the cross is to the creature as the rein to the horse.  What would happen to the horse if man did not use the rein?  It would be untamed, unrestrained, and would but go from precipice to precipice, to the point of becoming fierce and noxious to man and to itself.  On the other hand, with the rein it can be conducted, it becomes tame, walks straight, serves the needs of man as a faithful friend, and stays safe from any precipice, because man keeps it and protects it.  Such is the cross to man.  The cross tames him, restrains him, arrests the course of his hurling himself along the paths of passions which he feels within himself, and which devour him like fire.  So, instead of raging against God and hurting himself, the cross dampens his passions, softens him, conducts him, and serves the glory of God and his own salvation.  Oh, if it wasn’t for the cross which, by Its mercy, Divine Providence holds as a rein in order to restrain man – oh, amid how many more evils would one see poor humanity lie!”
Vol. 7, October 8, 1906

The cross is bothersome, prickly and painful but only through patience can it reveal the treasure it has within and there is no sanctity or virtue that comes to one without the cross.  This ability to bear the cross is not something we can do by ourselves it is only through divine help that we progress.

“My daughter, the cross is a thorny fruit, which is bothering and prickly on the outside, but once the thorns and the cortex are removed, one finds a precious and delicious fruit. But only one who has the patience to bear the bothers of the prickings, can arrive at discovering the secret of the preciousness and flavor of that fruit. And only one who has come to discover this secret, looks at it with love, and goes in search of this fruit with avidity, without caring about the prickings, while all the others look at it with contempt, and despise it.” And I: ‘But, my sweet Lord, what is this secret contained in the fruit of the cross?’ And He: “It is the secret of eternal beatitude, because in the fruit of the cross there are many little coins which circulate only to enter into Heaven, and with these little coins the soul is enriched and makes herself blessed for eternity.”
Vol. 7, May 9, 1907

Ah! daughter, no kind of sanctity is without cross; no virtue is acquired without union with pains.
Vol. 12, June 16, 1919

“My daughter, the way of the cross is a way strewn with stars, and as one walks through it, those stars change into most luminous suns.  What will be the happiness of the soul for all eternity in being surrounded with these suns?  Furthermore, the great reward I give to the cross is so great that there is no measure, either of width or of length – it is almost incomprehensible to the human minds; and this, because in bearing crosses, there can be nothing human – all is divine.”
Vol. 2, October 22, 1899

Furthermore Jesus refers to the cross as Sacrament, not a sacrament, but Sacrament.  Where one sacrament removes sin, another unites us with God, the cross, however, has the ability to apply all the effects of all the sacraments and in a very short time can render the soul similar to the origin from which she came, that is God.  It forms the permanent union between the soul and God.

“My daughter, the Cross is Sacrament.  Each one of the Sacraments contains Its special effects – one removes sin, another confers grace, another unites one with God, another gives strength, and many other effects.  But the Cross alone unites all these effects together, producing them in the soul with such effectiveness as to render her, in a very short time, similar to the original from which she came.”
Vol. 4, April 25, 1902

“My daughter, crosses, mortifications, are as many baptismal founts, and any kind of cross which is dipped in the thought of my Passion loses half of its bitterness and its weight decreases by half.”
Vol. 6, June 5, 1905

“My daughter, how precious is the cross!  See now:  in giving Itself to the soul, the Sacrament of my Body unites her with Me, It transforms her, to the point that she becomes one with Me.  But as the species are consumed, the union, truly established, ceases.  Not with the cross.  The cross takes God and unites Him with the soul forever, and It places Itself more surely as a seal.  Therefore, the cross seals God in the soul, in such a way that there is never separation between God and the crucified soul.”
Vol. 3, April 21, 1900

“My daughter, if the Eucharist is the deposit of the future glory, the cross is the disbursement with which to purchase it.  If the Eucharist is the seed which prevents corruption – like those aromatic herbs that prevent decomposition when applied to cadavers – and gives immortality to soul and body, the cross embellishes and is so powerful that if debts have been contracted, it becomes their guarantor, and it more surely obtains the restitution of the debt’s deed.  And after it has satisfied every debt, it forms for the soul the most refulgent throne in the future glory.  Ah, yes, the cross and the Eucharist alternate, and one operates more powerfully than the other.”
Vol. 3, May 1, 1900

The cross prepares the soul so that divine virtues and truths can communicate themselves to the creature.  The greater the truth the creature is to receive the greater the cross to strip the creature of all that is human.

“My daughter, crosses, sorrows, pains, are like a press for the soul. Just as the wine-press serves to crush and peel the grapes, in such a way that the wine remains on one side and the skin on the other; in the same way, crosses and pains, like a press, peel the soul of pride, of love of self, of passions, and of all that is human, leaving the pure wine of virtues. And so my virtues find the way to communicate themselves and lay themselves within the soul as on a snow-white canvas, with indelible characters. How can you fear, then, if every time I have manifested to you my truths on my Will, these truths have always been preceded by crosses, sorrows and pains – and the higher the truths, the more intense and the stronger the pains? It was nothing other than the pressure of the press which I exercised in you, in order to peel you of all that is human. It was my interest, more than yours, that these truths would not be mixed with the skin of human passions.”
Vol. 16, December 26, 1923

The cross is the truest sign as to whether one loves God or not.  When someone bears their cross with patience and resignation than it is a sure sign that someone truly loves God.  Not because of their own merit but because one can only do so with divine help and that is the sign that the soul is united with the love of the divine life residing in the soul so that the soul loves with God's love.

I was thinking about why it is the cross alone that makes us know whether we really love the Lord, while there are many other things, like the virtues, prayer, the Sacraments, which could make us know whether we love the Lord. While I was thinking of this, blessed Jesus came and told me: “My daughter, it is really so, the cross alone is that which makes one know whether he really loves the Lord - but a cross carried with patience and resignation, because where there is patience and resignation in crosses, there is divine life. Since nature is so reluctant to suffering, if there is patience, it cannot be something natural, but divine, and the soul no longer loves the Lord with her love alone, but united with the love of the divine life.
Vol. 8, February 16, 1908

This divine help also secures the treasure of the cross in the soul which leads to the soul's sanctification.  Each cross secures another seed of virtue when the soul accepts it and submits to it.

“My daughter, the cross is a treasure, and the safest place in which to keep this valuable treasure is one’s own soul.  Or rather, it is a safe place when the soul is disposed to receive this treasure with patience, with resignation and with the other virtues, because the virtues are as many keys that secure it, so as not to spoil it or expose it to thieves.  But if it does not find especially the gold key of patience, this treasure will find many thieves, who will steal it and spoil it.”
Vol. 7, August 11, 1906

This morning, Jesus showed me a soul who was crying, but it seemed, rather, to be a crying of love. Jesus clasped her, and it seemed that inside His Heart there was a cross which, pressing against her heart, made her feel abandonments, coldness, agonies, distractions, oppressions; and the soul wriggled about, and a few times she escaped from the arms of Jesus to put herself at His feet. Jesus wanted that, in her state, she would hold on, remaining in His arms, telling her: “If you are able to hold on in this state, remaining in my arms without wavering, this cross will be your sanctification; otherwise you will always stay at the same point.”
Vol. 10, January 27, 1912

“My daughter, the cross is seed of virtue, and just as one who sows harvests for ten, twenty, thirty, and even one hundred - in the same way, the cross, being seed, multiplies virtues and perfections, and it embellishes them in an admirable way.  So, the more crosses thicken around you, the more seeds of virtue are sown into your soul.  Therefore, instead of afflicting yourself when a new cross comes to you, you should rejoice, thinking that you are acquiring another seed, with which you can enrich, and even complete, your crown.”
Vol. 6, January 28, 1905

One of the treasures of the cross it the ability to form the marriage between the soul and God.  Jesus deposited in the cross all the dowries sufficient to marry him but we have to accept these crosses.  If we don't we nullify the dowry and break the proposal.

“My daughter, when I received the Cross, I embraced It as my dearest treasure, because in the Cross I dowered souls and espoused them to Myself.  Now, upon looking at the Cross – at Its length and breadth – I rejoiced, because I saw in It sufficient dowries for all my spouses, and none of them could fear not being able to marry Me, because I held in my own hands – in the Cross – the price of their dowry.  But with this condition alone:  that if the soul accepts the little gifts I send to her - which are the crosses - as the pledge of her acceptance of Me as her Spouse, the marriage is formed and I give her the gift of the dowry.  If then she does not accept the gifts – that is, if she is not resigned to my Will – everything is undone, and even if I want to dower her, I cannot, because in order to form a marriage, it always takes the will of both sides; and since the soul does not accept my gifts, it means that she does not want to accept the marriage.”
Vol. 7, July 27, 1906

All of those little crosses and the large ones too, add up to form immense, eternal riches, beauties to enrapture God himself.

“My beloved, do you want to be beautiful?  The cross will give you the most beautiful features that can possibly be found, both in Heaven and on earth; so much so, as to enamor God, who contains all beauties within Himself.”
Jesus continued:  “Do you want to be filled with immense riches - not for a short time, but for all eternity?  Well then, the cross will administer to you all kinds of riches - from the tiniest cents, which are the little crosses, up to the greatest amounts, which are the heavier crosses.  Yet, men are so greedy to earn a temporal penny, which they soon will have to leave, but do not give a thought to earning one eternal cent.  And when I, having compassion for them, in seeing their carelessness for all that regards eternity, kindly offer them the opportunity - instead of cherishing it, they get angry and offend Me.  What human madness – it seems that they understand it upside down.  My beloved, in the cross are all the triumphs, all the victories, and the greatest gains.  You must have no aim other than the cross, and it will be enough for you, in everything.
Vol. 1, The excellence of the cross.  In place of the cross she had till now, Luisa receives another much larger one.

“If you knew what good the cross contains within itself, how precious it renders the soul, and what a gem of inestimable value one acquires, who has the good of possessing sufferings…  It is enough to tell you only that, in coming upon earth, I did not choose riches or pleasures, but I cherished as dear and intimate sisters, the cross, poverty, sufferings and ignominies.”
Vol. 1, Preciousness of the cross.  Jesus renews Luisa’s crucifixion many times.

Before Jesus came and sanctified the cross sufferings were believed to be dishonors and those that look at them outside of Jesus will still remain blind to the good they contain.  But in them are the spiritual mirror where the soul can acquire the likeness of God.

“My Spouse, virtues become weak if they are not strengthened and fortified by the grafting of the cross.  Before my coming upon earth, pains, confusions, disgraces, calumnies, sufferings, poverty, illnesses, and especially the cross, were considered dishonors; but from the moment they were borne by Me, they were all sanctified and divinized by my contact.  They all changed their appearance, becoming sweet, pleasant, and the soul who has the good of having some of them, receives honor - and this, because she has received the vestment of Me, Son of God.  Only those who look and stop at the cortex of the cross experience the contrary; finding it bitter, they are disgusted by it, they complain, as if someone had done wrong to them.  But those who penetrate into it, finding it enjoyable, form their happiness in it.  My beloved daughter, I yearn for nothing else but to crucify you, body and soul.”
Vol. 1, Third marriage:  the Marriage of the Cross.

“The cross is a mirror in which the soul admires the Divinity, and by reflecting herself in it, she acquires the features and the likeness which most resembles God.  The cross must not only be loved and desired, but one must consider it an honor and a glory.  This is to operate as God and to become like God by participation, because I alone gloried in the cross and considered suffering an honor, and I loved it so much that in my whole life I did not want to be one moment without the cross.”
Vol. 3, April 20, 1900

“The cross absorbs the Divinity into the soul, renders her similar to my Humanity, and reproduces my own works in her.”
Vol. 3, June 14, 1900

In summary Jesus had Luisa speak to him about the cross and all that she had learned about it.

...to make Him content I began to say:  ‘My Beloved, who can say to You what the Cross is?  Your mouth alone can speak worthily of the sublimity of the Cross; but since You want me to speak, I will do it.
The Cross, suffered by You, freed me from the slavery of the devil, and espoused me to the Divinity with an indissoluble bond.  The Cross is fecund and gives birth to Grace in me.  The Cross is Light, It disillusions me of what is temporal, and reveals to me what is eternal.  The Cross is fire, and reduces to ashes all that is not of God, to the point of emptying my heart of the tiniest blade of grass that might be in it.  The Cross is coin of inestimable value, and if I have, O Holy Spouse, the fortune of possessing it, I will be enriched with eternal coins, to the point of becoming the richest in Paradise, because the currency that circulates in Heaven is the Cross suffered on earth.  The Cross, then, makes me know myself; not only this, but It gives me the knowledge of God.  The Cross grafts all virtues into me.  The Cross is the noble pulpit of the uncreated Wisdom, that teaches me the highest, the finest and most sublime doctrines.  So, only the Cross will reveal to me the most hidden mysteries, the most secret things, the most perfect perfection, hidden to the most erudite and learned of the world.  The Cross is like beneficent water that purifies me; not only this, but It administers to me the nourishment for the virtues, It makes them grow, and only then does It leave me, when It brings me back to Eternal Life.  The Cross is like celestial dew, which preserves and embellishes for me the beautiful lily of purity.  The Cross is the nourishment of Hope.  The Cross is the beacon of operating Faith.  The Cross is like hard wood, which preserves the fire of Charity, keeping it always lit.  The Cross is like dry wood, which dispels and puts to flight all the smokes of pride and of vainglory, producing the humble violet of humility in the soul.  The Cross is the most powerful weapon that offends the demons, and defends me from all of their claws.  Therefore, the soul who possesses the Cross is the envy and admiration of the very Angels and Saints, and the rage and indignation of the demons.  The Cross is my Paradise on earth, in such a way that if the Paradise of the Blessed up there, is of delights, the Paradise down here is of sufferings.  The Cross is the chain of most pure gold that connects me to You, my Highest Good, and forms the most intimate union which can possibly be given, to the point of making my being disappear.  And It transforms me in You, my Beloved, to the point that I feel lost within You, and I live from your very Life.’
After I said this (I don’t know whether it is nonsense), my lovable Jesus was all delighted in listening to me, and taken by enthusiasm of love, kissed me all over, and said to me:  “Brava, brava, my beloved - you spoke well!  My Love is fire, but not like the terrestrial fire which, wherever it penetrates, renders things sterile and reduces everything to ashes.  My fire is fecund, and it renders sterile only that which is not virtue.  To all the rest it gives life, it makes beautiful flowers bloom, it makes the most delicious fruits mature, and forms the most delightful celestial garden.  The Cross is so powerful, and I communicated so much grace to It, as to render It more effective than the very Sacraments; and this, because in receiving the Sacrament of my Body, the dispositions and free concourse of the soul are needed in order to receive my graces, and many times these may be lacking; while the Cross has the virtue of disposing the soul to grace.”
Vol. 3, December 2, 1899
